                                                             2019 KGPA Show Series Rules
 

1. Eligibility
     a. Must be a current participant in the show series.
     b. Participation forms are available at www.keystonegoatproducers.net. There will also be forms  

         available at the show.
     c. Points will begin to accumulate at the time of participating dues being received. Points are NOT

         retro-active.

     d. Market lamb and market goat divisions are open to youth under 21 as of January 1, 2019.

 

2. Participating Shows
     a. The show season will run January 1 until the banquet.
     b. Awards will be presented at the 2019 KGPA Banquet held in November-December.
     c. Points will be awarded for the following shows : 
          i.     WV Boer Goat Blitz - May 18-19, 2019 - Kearneysville, WV (ABGA shows only)

          ii.    NY Boer Breeders Expo - May 25-26, 2019 - Syracuse, NY
          iii.   Eastern Regional Show - June 1-2, 2019 - Kearneysville, WV (ABGA and JABGA -

                 no showmanship)

          iv.   Keystone Classic – June 21-23, 2019 – Elizabethtown, PA (double points)
          v.    Firecracker Classic - June 29-30, 2019 - Kearneysville, WV (ABGA shows only)

          vi.   Get Your Kicks On Route 6 - July 12-14, 2019 - Meshoppen, PA
          vii.  The Summer Jam – July 20 - 21, 2019 – Harrisonburg, VA
          viii. Cumberland Ag Expo Summer Showdown - August 10, 2019 - Newville, PA (market only)

          ix.   Keystone Summer Finale – Aug. 31 – Sept. 1, 2019 – Elizabethtown, PA (double points)

          x.    Rumble in the Valley - Sept. 21-22, 2019 - State College, PA                 

     d. Keystone Classic and Keystone Summer Finale will be double points for all shows
     e. Shows must be open to exhibitors residing in any state.

 

3. Entries
     a. Exhibitors can enter as many animals as they want in the show.
     b. ABGA /Junior animals must be identified in class by the official tattoo.
     c. Market animals must use the official scrapie tag at all shows.

 

4. Showmanship
     a. Divisions are separated by age as of January 1, 2019 as noted in section 7 (b) and (c).
     b. Showmanship classes will not be allowed to have helpers in the ring except Peewee division.
     c. Awards for Junior Breeding, Market Goat and Market Lamb
     d. All participating shows must follow the age brackets (see section 7 (b) and (c)) for showmanship in the breeding and market classes.

 

5. Points at shows
     a. Points will be assigned in reverse order for all classes. Example: 11 entries in class, 1st place gets

         11 points, 2nd place gets 10 points, etc.
     b. All entries entering the ring will get at least 1 point.
     c. Disqualified goats will not receive any points but will still count as an entry in the class.
     d. Top 10 must be placed for each class.
     e. For classes with large number of entries, all those making top cut will get same amount of points,

         if not placed in top 10. If more than one cut is made, points will be adjusted. All remaining animals

         not making the cut will receive the same amount of points.
     f. Additional points will be awarded for animals placing as Champions or Reserves.
          i. Division Champion - 5 points
          ii. Division Reserve – 3 points
          iii. Overall Champion – 10 points
          iv. Overall Reserve – 5 points

      g. Junior Bred and Owned will be double points for each show and quadruple for the KGPA shows.

 

6. Recording of points
     a. Shows must send full results to KGPA within 30 days following show.
     b. Points will be assigned and tabulated by KGPA.
     c. Standings will be posted on the KGPA website throughout the year.

 

7. Awards to be given
     a. ABGA, Junior Show, and Junior Bred & Owned awards
          i. Show divisions will be Percentage Does, Fullblood Does and Fullblood Bucks for each type of

             show.
          ii. Premier Exhibitor – total points on all animals registered to exhibitor on date of show
          iii. High Point Animal – points on animal identified by tattoo
     b. Junior Showmanship will be divided into Senior ages 15 -18, Intermediate ages 11-14 Junior

         ages 6-10 and Peewee ages 5 and under for awards.  Peewee is not eligible for end of the year awards, but will be recognized.  Any Peewee youth can declare to Junior status if they choose for the whole year.
     c. Market Lamb and Market Goat Showmanship will be divided into Senior ages 15 -20, Intermediate            ages 11-14, and Junior ages 6-10 and Peewee ages 5 and under for awards.  Peewee is not eligible for end of the year awards, but will be recognized.  Any Peewee youth can declare to Junior status if they choose for the whole year.

     d. Market Goat and Market Lamb High Point Exhibitor awards will be given for junior, Intermediate

         and Senior age groups according to the showmanship age breaks.
     e. Year-end ties will be broken using the following areas in order until tie is broken: Overall  Champion,
Overall Reserve, Division Champion, Division Reserve, number of shows competed in, coin toss.

 

8. Receiving of Awards
     a. Recipient must be present at the year-end banquet or send a representative to receive the item.
     b. All participants will be recognized at the banquet.

The 2019 banquet will be held on Nov. 2 from 4pm - 8-pm at the Penn Township Fire Hall in Newville, PA.
